"Niamh, my daughter, was referred from Wexford to the National Maternity Hospital around 20 weeks when one of herColette 1 twins was discovered to have a growth restriction in the womb. Ultimately, she was kept in to have the babies monitored multiple times a day to ensure their best chances of survival.

Niamh’s Dad was diagnosed with cancer while she was in the NMH and our world was turned upside down when he died two months later. Meanwhile the uncertainty of the twins also hung in the balance. Niamh was treated very sensitively by the hospital and while she was granted some time back Colette 2.jpeghome their concern was to do their utmost for the babies. Three weeks after my husband died Millie and Grace entered the world born prematurely. They spent many weeks in the NICU where the most amazing staff looked after them and monitored them around the clock.

Millie and Grace are the shining light to emerge from those many dark days. The are the most wonderful, mischievous, funny and lovable pair and help me get through the difficult time of grief. I love them so much and want to spend as much time as I can being the best Nanna to them. I marvel at every new step they make in the world.

I cannot thank The NMH enough for all that they do. They definitely work miracles. As a grandmother I have seen how they helped and supported my daughter and her twin girls from her early pregnancy days to long after their birth. I am so grateful that we have such a wonderful hospital in Ireland that are highly specialised and can deal with unusual pregnancies as if they are the norm. "
